Himanshu is hoping to study Computer Science engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay
The results of the top ten ranks in IIT-JEE Advanced, the entrance test for the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, were declared late on Wednesday evening. With 429 marks, Chandigarh’s Himanshu Gupta, a student of Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, emerged as the north India topper, with All India Rank (AIR) 7.
“I was expecting a rank within the top 50-100, but I had no idea I would be in the top 10,” said Himanshu. He had started preparing for IIT JEE in Class IX. “For the first two years, I was not very serious about it. But in my 11th and 12th, I started taking my studies seriously. Initially I used to study for 8-9 hours, but as the entrance exam date came closer, I started dedicating 11-12 hours to my studies.”
Himanshu attributes his success to his parents and believes it takes a lot of hard work and proper planning to crack IIT’s joint Entrance Exam. “The most important thing is to make a fixed schedule, and to stick to it till the end,” he says.
