After entertaining his listeners as an RJ on Dubai-based radio channel — Al Khaleel, anchoring shows and sports events like Indian Hockey League, making jingles and playing a small role on Colors’ upcoming show Suno Sajana — city based Parminder is now busy chatting up with children on ETC Punjabi’s brand new show Sada School. The show that kick started on Friday, will be visiting schools in northern India, and interact with kids on a diverse range of subjects.

“Yes,it’s back to school,” says an excited Parminder, who first anchored Sada Virsa (Our Culture) on Al Khaleel,is now reaching out to a new base — children. “And boy,it’s fun. They make me feel like a star,” says Parminder, who is riding high on this popularity.

Aimed at children from Class I to XII,the show is divided into three segments, each different from the other. While the show talks about culture, heritage and tradition, delving into a bit of general knowledge and history, the other — a sporty segment — indulges in fun and activities. Finally, there is,a face to face with the teachers.

“There was a need for a show like this as there are not many channels, which focus on children this way. Through this,we are trying to gauge what goes on in children’s mind, about their studies, their issues, their rapport with their parents, peers and teachers,” says Parminder, for whom the most interesting section is the one, wherein the children hold an interaction or talk about their teachers. “Children are super smart these days and with all the exposure, awareness and technology they have at their disposal, they are really bright,” says Parminder, who adds that how in their time, schools were straight and simple, while now,the whole education game has changed.

Interestingly, the channel had conceptualised a show for college goers. “I went for the auditions and felt that something needs to be done for younger kids and made this suggestion of reaching out to the schools,” he says. So far, eight schools in the city have been covered and the show will be aired soon. “It’s summer time, and we will be shooting in all the Himachal Pradesh schools now,” says Parminder. In the meantime,he is all set to release his Punjabi album titled Someone Special this month. “I’ve composed the music and the songs have been sung by Rai Jujhar,” he says.
