Cong undecided,Nadda set to enter Rajya Sabha unopposed

J P Nadda,who filed his nomination papers for state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat,on Monday,is all set to get elected unopposed as the Congress did not take a decision on contesting the seat.

Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary and national spokesman J P Nadda,who filed his nomination papers for state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat,on Monday,is all set to get elected unopposed as the Congress did not take a decision on contesting the seat. Monday was the last date of filing nominations.

Accompanied by Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and state BJP president Satpal Satti,beside all sitting party MLAs,Nadda filed his nominations papers at 11 am and then attended the Vidhan Sabha session since he is a sitting MLA from Bilaspur.

Nadda ruled out possibilities of his wife Malvika Nadda,a Himachal Pradesh University teacher contesting Bilaspur assembly seat. “Only I am in the politics and it’s enough,” he remarked.

Vidhan Sabha secretary Goverdhan Singh said no other nomination was received till 5 pm. While scrutiny of the papers will be held on Tuesday,March 22 was the last date to withdraw nominations.

“If there is no other name,we will declare Nadda elected,” he added.

The seat fell vacant on completion of Viplove Thakur’s tenure as MP. Thakur,a former Congress minister was PCC president during 2007 assembly polls.
