Couple dies of snakebite in Mubarakpur

A couple died of snakebite at their house in Mubarakpur village near here on Wednesday night. Raveena,20,and Sakir,23,had married around six months ago. Raveena was three months pregnant,said police sources.

Sakir’s father Bhura Ali told the police that last night the couple slept on the floor in their room while he slept on the terrace. Around 11.30 pm Sakir woke up his father and told him that Raveena was complaining of acute stomach ache and he was also feeling uneasy. The couple was rushed to civil hospital,where Raveena was declared dead on arrival and Sakir was referred to Chandigarh GMCH-32,where he was also declared dead on arrival. The autopsy examination conducted at the civil hospital revealed that the couple died of poisoning caused by snakebite. The police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.
