Dasuya bypoll: Development is the buzzword

“DEVELOPMENT” is the key word being used by both BJP and Congress candidates in Hoshiarpur district’s Dasuya while campaigning for the July 11 bypoll.

“DEVELOPMENT” is the key word being used by both BJP and Congress candidates in Hoshiarpur district’s Dasuya while campaigning for the July 11 bypoll.

With over 1.5 lakh voters, the election will see a direct fight between alliance BJP’s Sukhjit Kaur, wife of deceased BJP MLA Amarjit Singh Sahi, and Congress’ Mickey Dogra — son of former minister Ramesh Chander Dogra.

If BJP is using the ‘D’ (development) word and telling the voters that how all round development has been taking place in the state under SAD-BJP rule,Congress’ Arun Mickey Dogra and other

leaders are using the same to explain that development is taking place because the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has been providing financial grants to the state.

While highlighting the state’s poor fiscal health, the Congress is trying to woo voters by telling them that though the Centre was providing money under various schemes to the state, the SAD-BJP government was taking credit for all the development projects being executed by Centre’s money.

After development, the other factors being highlighted by the BJP is “sympathy” and “sand mafia” by Congress.

It will be last nail in Cong coffin: Sukhbir

DASUYA: Riding high on the ruling alliance’s thumping victory in the Assembly elections,Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal is confident of Shiromani Akali Dal candidate winning the Dasuya by-election and said once the results are out a number of Congress candidates will join his party. “Punjab Congress will collapse after Dasuya by-election on July 11 as its leaders have accepted the fact that their party would never return to power in the state,” he said on Thursday while campaigning for SAD-BJP candidate Sukhjit Kaur Sahi here. After facing “defeat in Dasuya by-election”,the dejected Congress leaders would queue up at SAD head office to join the party.
