Demolition at Burail: Fourth floors of 3 houses razed

Notices had been served on the owners of these houses for violating building byelaws,which permit construction of three storeys only.

The Municipal Corporation on Monday carried out a demolition drive at Burail village,pulling down fourth floors of three houses being used for running illegal guesthouses and paying guest accommodation.

House number 1595 was called Samrat Hotel,house number 1596 offered paying guest accommodation by Ankit Aggarwal and his mother Brij Bala,and house number 1597 was owned by Satpal Gupta,former sarpanch of the village. On the fourth floors of these houses were two or three bedroom facilities along with separate kitchens and bathrooms.

One of the structures was found to be dangerous for demolition. The owner assured the officials that he would himself demolish a portion of the house.

Additional Commissioner,Municipal Corporation,Lalit Siwach said the demolition was carried out following non-compliance with the notices. In the coming days,more demolition drives would be carried out.

The MC had served notices in October 2010.
