Led by superb all-round show from Karan (41 runs and 3 for 7),Chandigarh Baptist School recorded an easy 33-run win over YPS Mohali,in a match played during Inter-School Fourth Saupin’s Gold Cup (U-14) Cricket Tournament organised by Saupin’s 32 Cricket Academy and Chandigarh Cricket Association in affiliation with Haryana Cricket Association. Batting first,Chandigarh Baptist School amassed 132 runs in 20 overs. Karan plundered highest 41 runs off 35 balls while Sahil made 20-ball 21 runs to help Baptist School reach the total of 132 runs. In the process,Nikhil also chipped in with useful knock of 16 runs. From YPS,Sartaj and Gagan scalped three wickets each. In reply,Baptist bowlers Karan and Manu bowled well to bag three wickets each to put YPS batsmen on the backfoot. YPS team managed to score 99 runs in 20 overs,losing eight wickets. Gagan (18) and Vipn (17) were the main contributors for YPS.
In the second match,Baptist School carved out another impressive win playing against St Kabir School,Sector 26. Batting first,St Kabir School team posted a total of 104 runs in 20 overs,at the loss of five wickets. In reply Chandigarh Baptist completed the given target scoring 105 runs in 16.1 overs. Shivam made 47 runs in 40 balls for the winning team while Nikhil scored 55 runs off 28 balls for St Kabir School. Shivanshu bowled well to take four wickets.
Mayanks ton goes in vain as Panchkula lose
Chandigarh: A valiant century by Mayank (100 off 120 balls) went into vain as Panchkula District lost to Yamunanagar by 42 runs in a league match of the First Rajinder Goel Memorial Cricket Tournament played at Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19. Batting first,Yamunanagar posted a total of 262 runs in 49 overs. Vishal Mandora was the top scorer for the team as he played a knock of 70 runs off 69 balls while Vishal Rana contributed 63 runs off 63 balls. For Panchkula,Sourav claimed three wickets for 38 runs while Sunil claimed two wickets for 23 runs. Chasing a target of 263 runs,Panchkula were restricted to 220 in 43 overs. Mayanks knock of 100 runs off 120 went waste. Yuvraj was the other main scorer as he contributed 23 runs. For the winning team,Vishal Mandora claimed three wickets for 31 runs while Rohan claimed two wickets for 23 runs.
