Led by Raghav Goyal’s brilliant five-wicket haul,Little Flower Cricket Academy recorded a narrow one-run win over Chandigarh Baptist Cricket Academy in the inaugural match of the First Kaushalya Devi Memorial Inter Academy under-14 League Cricket Championship organised by Hansraj Cricket Academy,Sector 6,on Monday.

Batting first,Little Flower Academy posted a total of 95 runs in 24.4 overs. The Little Flower opening batsman, Sagar Sachdeva,played a sensible innings of 29 runs. Meanwhile,Gagan Deep (2 for 10) and Chetanjeet Singh (2 for 5) bowled well to restrict the opposition team.

It was a difficult target to achieve,but Raghav Goyal of Little Flower Academy bowled some accurate offies to castle five wickets,giving away 20 runs. Chandigarh Baptist Academy were crusing through towards victory but somehow could not capitalise in the last over when the pressure mounted on them. Eventually,they were skittled out for 94 runs. Later,Raghav Goyal was declared man of the match for his splendid bowling spell.

Chandigarh Kho Kho Welfare Club and Dev Samaj College for Women,Sector 45,cornered glory and claimed top honours in the men’s and women’s categories of senior section in the 39th Senior Chandigarh Kho Kho State Championship which was held in Chandigarh. Chandigarh Kho Kho Welfare Club prevalied over PGGC Club,Sector 46 by 3 points,while Dev Samaj College for Women,Sector 45 pipped Khalsa College Club ,Sector 26 by 6 points to win the titles.

Meanwhile,in the 32 junior kho kho event,Govt. High School and SGGS0-Sector 35 claimed top spots in the girls and boys categories,respectively.It was a double-delight for GMS Sector 46 teams as both the men’s and women’s beat their opponents to bag the sub-junior titles.

Junior girls:1st semifinal:Govt. High School Sector 46 bt Dev Samaj School Sector 21 by 3 points.2nd semifinal:SGGS Sector 35 bt GMSSS 44 by 6 points.Final:Govt. High School 46 bt SGGS 35 by 3 points.

Junior boys:1st semifinal:DAV School Club Sector 15 bt GSSS Sector 45 by 2 points.2nd semifinal:SGGS Sector 35 bt GHS Sector 38 by 7 points.Final:SGGS Sector 35 bt DAV School Club Sector 15 by 1 point.
