DPI (S) takes cue from Niwas’ recce,inspects schools

Following in the footsteps of UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas,Director Public Instructions (Schools) Samwartak Singh too conducted a surprise inspection of various government schools on Saturday.

Following in the footsteps of UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas,Director Public Instructions (Schools) Samwartak Singh too conducted a surprise inspection of various government schools on Saturday.

The visit brought to light the apathetic attitude of schools towards basic amenities and providing a good academic environment.

The inspection,as expected,ended with the issuing of various instructions to take the stock of irregularities within a week.

Singh conducted the check in around eight schools along with his team that comprised the registrar,deputy district education officer,assistant controller of finance and accounts among other officials.

The team was greeted with filthy toilets,unequipped laboratories and non-functional internet connections. The schools that invited the ire of the department for their shortcomings are: Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 37,10,23,Government Senior Secondary School,Sector 37,Government Model High School,Sector 37,41,36 and Government Model High School,Sector 36.

The schools have been instructed to install the stolen taps,make arrangements for storage of water,renovate laboratories and install multiple-user internet connections. They have been given a week’s time to comply with the orders failing which strict action will be initiated against them. “We want to provide good education facilities to students and the inspection was in league with that goal,” said Singh.
