Jagjit Singh,a work inspector with the Estate Office,who was arrested in a graft case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday,was sent to judicial custody by a Special CBI court on Thursday.
The accused was arrested by the CBI officials while accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 15,000.
The CBI arrested the accused from a Sector 24 branch of the Estate Office. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mahesh Aggarwal said that the complainant had alleged that Kumar had asked for Rs 30,000 for giving a report in favor of the complainant pertaining to a notice issued to the complainant for subletting a government accommodation.
Following the demand made by Kumar,a written complaint was given to CBI by the complainant.
A trap was laid and the CBI had arrested the accused while he was accepting the first installment of Rs 15,000 in Sector 24.
The notice which was to be settled was issued to the complainant by the Estate Office for subletting a government accommodation.
