‘Explosives’ found in SAD leader’s car, police register FIR against unknown persons

The evening before, Kulwinder and his brother, Lakhwinder, were coming from Chandigarh after reportedly meeting the Chief Minister when their car met with an accident near Lehra Mohabbat Thermal plant, Bathinda.

They had left their car that had overturned on the spot and went to Bathinda circuit house in another car. Panic had spread in the area when the security officer of the thermal plant found “detonator-like objects” in the car next day.

The police haven’t confirmed if the objects were explosives and have sent them to a forensic lab in Kharar for examination.

SSP Indermohan Bhatti said, “We will be able to say anything once the forensic report comes and it will take yet another 10 days.” The SSP said the SAD leader and his brother were being interrogated. He added the FIR does not name the duo.

The number plates of the car were also missing, for which the duo had no explanation, said sources. They had even threatened people allegedly with a pistol after the vehicle overturned but police did not even take note of this point, added sources.
