Even as elections in the city ultimately turned out to be a battle of veteran stalwarts,a post-poll analysis highlights the performance of several low-key and first-time contestants. Most of these new faces, however, lost out in the fray as a majority of them landed three-figured vote counts.

* Ajay Goyal (Independent): A film financier and investor, the NRI polled 465 votes. The poor showing, however, has failed to affect his determination to contest the next two elections. “I have fallen marginally short of the expected figure of 500 votes. * Maya Devi (Independent): A housewife who jumped into the fray after her husband was not allowed to contest,Devi polled 927 votes. Life for Devi is,however, back to domestic chores.

* Paras Nath (Apna Dal): Nath is satisfied with the 366 votes polled in his favour. The reason: the party had received only 213 votes in the last elections.

* Lt Col S K Suri (Retd) (Independent): Having polled 2,776 votes,Suri was by far the most successful independent candidate from the city.

* Goswami V B Bharti (Janata Dal-United): Having polled a modest 658 votes,Bharti was nowhere to be seen after the results were announced.
