For a Better Picture

There's more to photography than just clicking at the right moment.

There’s more to photography than just clicking at the right moment. “The light, background and the mood need to be in synchronisation,” said Chandigarh-based photographer Navneet Saxena,as he gave tips on photography to over 80 enthusiasts at Yi CLYICK,a one-day long workshop on photography taking place at the CII Headquarters.

The workshop — which had Saxena as one of the instructors, along with Sarbjit S Pandher — was organised to acquaint participants with the nuances of photography. “Use the equipment like a professional photographer, but identify and click the photo with the curiosity of a child,” said Pandher,as Saxena took the students through a slideshow of his works from across the globe, from Dubai to New Zealand,Vancouver,Australia and Canada. He spoke about the importance of shutter speed, using white space and the type of lens to use. “A photograph is a reflection of repertoire of emotions. It reels the story through the photographer’s eye,” said the photographer who has won awards from Federation of Indian Photography and Indian International Photographic Council.

While the workshop covered fundamentals of creative photography and post-production,the focus was on hands-on training. “We all are photographers in our own right. We click pictures of our friends and the nature all the time. This workshop aimed to take that shutterbug in us to a professional level, where the picture quality is better. To motivate the participants further, the best entries received from the students will be sent for Yi National level photography competition that will be held in November,” said Vandana Aggarwal,co-chair,Yi Nets,Yi Tricity,Chandigarh.
