Fortuner Gang: Cops get two-day remand extension of accused

According to the police,the gang began by stealing luxury cars. “ But the gang members never kept or sold these cars. They would snatch a car,use it for a crime and then dump it. Like the Fortuner that we were looking had been dumped in Agra,a Honda accord in Amritsar and so on. Selling or keeping a snatched car would have led to their arrests sooner. The gang had snatched over a dozen luxury vehicles,particularly the Fortuner,” Singh added.

The four members of the gang were nabbed by police on February 23 and those arrested have been identified as Gurjinder Singh alias Fauji,a resident of Dakha,Pawan Kumar alias Bhaa — a resident of Phagwara — Atinder Bikramjit Singh alias Hunter,a resident of Patiala and Mandeep Singh alias Pistoli — a resident of Ludhiana.

Three members of the gang — Jatinder Kumar alias Amar alias Langra,a resident of Ludhiana,Sukhdev Singh alias Billa,a resident of Taran Taran and Suraj Parkash alias Davvy,a resident of Ludhiana — managed to flee.

Jatinder and Sukhdev are said to be the main men behind the gang.

According to the police,while all members of the gang were drug addicts,at least two of those arrested were on de-addiction medicine. “The parents of these boys have given us the medicines that both the boys were using to kick the habit and we are giving these medicines regularly to them,” said a police officer. The gang as per the police snatched some 11 cars and another two have come to light after their arrests. “ Yet there are boys like Bikramjeet Singh alias Hunter who was with these boys for one crime only. This boy is a post-graduate student from Punjabi University,” added the police official.
