In yet another brawl in Burail late on Tuesday night,a group of youngsters armed with swords,baseball bats and batons,allegedly barged into a house in Sector 45 and assaulted eight labourers. The victims were admitted to the Sector-32 Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) with multiple injuries. The condition of two of the victims is stated to be critical while one was referred to the PGI.
The police arrested four persons in a case of attempt to murder. Sonu Shah,Prince,Dilbar and Sukhwinder Singh,all residents of Burail,were nabbed after registering a case of attempt to murder,rioting,causing hurt and criminal trespassing. Their fifth accomplice Parveen is absconding. The accused were produced before a local court,which remanded them to a days police custody.
The attack took place as one of the labourers had been allegedly harassing the sister of one of the accused. Prince along with a group of over dozen armed youths beat up the victims after barging into the house.
The police said all the accused involved were notorious and indulged in anti-social activities. Past records are being examined to find out their involvement in other criminal activities.
The injured are Mehboob,Akbar,Cahnder,Taslim,Abdul,Ram Lal,Sazid and Sadam. Ram Lala,a Nepalese,has been referred to the PGI from the GMCH,as he sustained severe head injuries while another seriously injured victim Abdul is admitted in GMCH.
