Four students,who were reportedly in an inebriated state,allegedly thrashed and tore the uniform of a Chandigarh Police constable while he was on duty at the Night Food Street opposite PGI on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. All the accused have been arrested. They have been identified as Kirandeep Singh,Manish Kaushik,Sunny Kumar and Ankit Jain,all native of Ferozepur. According to the police,the incident took place when Constable Ashok Kumar,who was posted in the area objected to the youth parking their vehicle in the wrong place. This allegedly led to a heated argument which finally ended in a scuffle. One of the accused is alleged to have caught the constable by his collar while the others allegedly later thrashed him and tore his uniform. Other policemen deployed on the spot,rushed to the Ashoks rescue and caught one of the students. Three others managed to flee,but were later arrested. They accused were sent to judicial custody on Friday.
