The stalling of construction of the day market at Mauli Jagran is likely to create ruckus at the meeting of the Municipal Corporation General House to be held on Friday.
At a pre-house meeting held today the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed discontent at the stalling of the construction before the minutes of the previous meeting where the agenda was approved.
The agenda for cancellation of the day market was taken up at the meeting of the House last month after the Congress and nominated councillors voted in favour of the proposal.
The BJP,which had opposed the cancellation, claims that the construction in the market was stalled even before the minutes of the meeting could be confirmed. This is likely to be opposed at the General House meeting tomorrow.
The approval given by Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) for not allowing stalls to be set up in Sector 17 for Diwali would also be opposed.
The BJP has also expressed its opposition to the proposal that no one apart from residents of Sector 22 would be allowed to put up cracker stalls in the sector.
The issue of non-functional street lights had been discussed in detail at the last meeting. A report prepared about street lights not having been installed in Industrial Area for the past two years is also part of the MC General House meeting agenda.
