Gagandeep Kaur of Panjab University,Chandigarh,claimed the first position in 57 kg weight category during the All India Inter- University Judo Championship for Women held at Panjab University Gymnasium Hall,Chandigarh,on Sunday. Shirsat Surekha of Pune University was in tow as she claimed the second position in the same category,while the third position was jointly shared by Veena Saini of Kurukshetra University and Dimple Joshi of HNB Gharwal University.
Meanwhile,in the 63 kg weight category,Garima Chaudhary of Panjab University bagged the first position,while Shally Manral of Delhi University claimed the second position. The third position was jointly shared by Pethe Kiran of Pune University and Shipra Srivastava of LNUPC,Gwahor.
In the 70 kg weight category,Ritu of Kurukshetra University got the first position,while Poonam Suthar of Panjab University claimed the second position. Banarshi Saran of LNUPC,Gwalior and Jaiwanti of CCS University,Meerut,jointly shared the third position.
As many as 300 judokas representing 53 universities all over the India are taking part in the championship.
PU claim silver in AIU team shooting championship
Panjab University claimed overall second position in All India Inter- University Air Rifles and Air Pistol Shooting Peep Sight (Men and Women) Championship held from February 1 to 5 at Jiwaji University,Gwalior. In Air Rifle (Men) category,Hitesh Singh Ghuman scored 568/600 and claimed the first position,while Gandharg Sahni (560/600) and Gkurmandeep Singh Sidhu (556/600) of Panjab University bagged second and third positions,respectively.
In Air Pistol (Men) category,Shivendu Sharma of DAV College,Chandigarh scored 559/600 and got the first position. Avneet Siag of Panjab University,Chandigarh,scored 551/600 and claimed the second position,while Angad Singh Sachdeva of Panjab University,Chandigarh,scored 545 and bagged the third position.
In Air Rifle (women) category Gurjeet Kaur of GGS College for Women,Chandigarh,scored 392/400 and claimed the first position. In Air Pistol (Women) category,Shifali Tomer scored 366/400 to grab the first position.
