Girl abducted ‘in connivance with cops’,HC issues notice

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to the Chandigarh Administration after a man,in his petition,alleged that his 13-year-old daughter was abducted,in connivance with the officers of the Chandigarh Police.

The father,Girish,alleged that his daughter was abducted on November 9 by Bahadur Singh and Prem Chand,both residents of Punjab. The matter was reported to the Chandigarh Police who found the girl but no medical test was conducted. Also,only Bahadur Singh was arrested and charged with abduction. Prem Chand,who was let off,abducted the girl again,Girish has alleged. She is still in his illegal detention,he added.

“We want the girl be released and her statement be recorded,” said Advocate R S Chahal,counsel for the petitioner.

Notices were also issued to one Ved Pal,a resident of Ropar.

CBI court frames charges against Ludhiana ATI official
The CBI court today framed charges against former Assistant Director of Advanced Training Institute (ATI) Ludhiana in a corruption case. The accused,Yogi Ram Verma,was caught red-handed by the CBI last year while taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. The court today framed charges under sections 7,13 (1) d and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused.

As per the case,the accused,in his capacity as the assistant director of the Institute demanded bribe of Rs 2 lakh from complainant,who is the chairman of Desh Bhagat Technical College in Bhattal,Hoshiarpur.

The case was registered on October 4,2008,on the complaint of Balwinder Singh,Chairman of Desh Bhagat Technical College. In his complaint to the CBI,Balwinder Singh had said that Yogi was demanding money from him for signing the report regarding inspection of the institute. The inspection was carried on September 9,2008,and then the accused demanded the bribe from him on September 15 at Chandigarh. Later,a deal was stuck and it was decided that the bribe will be paid to him in Delhi.

The CBI laid a trap in Delhi on September 30,2008,and caught him red-handed. The accused,who is out on bail,was present in court today when the charges were framed.

Rape of minor girl:Court frames charges against accused The court of Additional District and Sessions judge Raj Rahul Garg today framed charges against a resident of Mauli Jagran for raping a two-year-old-girl. The case dates back to March girl was found bleeding when her mother returned home. She was taken to GMSH-16 from where she was referred to the PGI.

When the doctors suspected sexual abuse,the victim’s elder sister told her mother that their neighbour Joginder(19) had taken the victim away and when he dropped her back,she was crying. On being confronted,Joginder fled after which the police was informed.

The accused was found and arrested. A chargesheet in the case was filed on September 16.

The charges framed by the court were under Sections 376 (rape) and 366 (abduction) of the IPC.
