The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has launched an ambitious initiative to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal and infrastructure, with a special focus on Phase 8.
Under this project, lakhs of rupees will be invested to transform key areas into lush, visually vibrant corridors.
The GMADA’s horticulture wing will spearhead the beautification of the widened road stretching from Phase 7 to Phase 11, prioritising Phase 8 with ornamental flowering plants and evergreen species.
A dedicated budget will ensure the installation of visually striking foliage along both sides of the road, complemented by upgraded roundabouts.
“The selected plants will be climate-resilient and low-maintenance, ensuring sustainable growth while boosting the area’s charm and environmental health,” stated a GMADA official.
A sum of Rs 62 lakh has been allocated for the upkeep of trees and decorative plants lining the Airport Road to Banur Road stretch.
This includes maintenance of shrubs on the central verges and trees on both sides of the road, ensuring a pristine and eco-friendly commute.
To streamline traffic in the bustling Sector 67-68 zone, the GMADA will construct a new side service road near the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at a cost of Rs 24 lakh.
The road aims to alleviate congestion caused by increasing vehicular movement, benefiting residents, students, and daily commuters.
