Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the Director General of Police,Diljeet Singh,to file an affidavit furnishing names and posts of the police officers on the current ODI (Officers with doubtful integrity) list. The bench also directed the DGP to explain why ODI officers should be retained in sensitive postings. The case is related to an appeal filed by three police officers from Sirmour, who had challenged their transfer from district constabulary to battalions. They had contended that there are numerous police officers, whose names figure in the ODI list, who are continuing in sensitive posts. The three had earlier challenged their transfer through a writ petition, which was dismissed by the High Court as the government cited the reason of their names figuring in the current ODI list as the cause of their transfer. The case will resume on January 5. On Tuesday,High Court,in a different case, directed the state to show its proposal, sent to the centre for sanctioning the prosecution of Subhash Ahluwalia. Chief Justice and Justice D D Sud asked the Centre to an file affidavit producing remarks of the CVC in the matter of prosecution sanction of Ahluwalia explaining whether the recommendation of the CVC is binding on the Ministry for processing the case of prosecution sanction. The matter has now been posted for December 23.
