The joint action committee (JAC),co-operative group housing societies held a meeting on Sunday regarding the various problems faced by the flat owners of
Sector 20.
A memorandum was also submitted by the JAC president,S K Jain,to MLA D K Bansal, about the various problems faced by the residents.
The JAC members informed that the construction of the over-bridge on Zirakpur-Kalka national highway has created more problems than solutions. One of the members said,There is a requirement of making an alternate entry as vehicles of more than 4,000 flats of Sectors 20 and 21 and Peer Mauchla navigate through the Sector 20 market every day. More than 2,500 flats are under construction and after these flats are occupied,it will become very difficult to use the existing entrance.
Meanwhile,Col S K Aggarwal, general secretary,JAC explained the problems created by the installation of Single Power Meter for the supply of electricity to the co-operative societies. He said the orders issued are illegal and improper, the same being in contravention of the Electricity Act,2003. He called upon all the members not to allow the installation of single meter in their premises.
All the societies unanimously decided to oppose the single-meter proposal. He also called upon the members to cooperate with electricity staff in carrying out surprise checks of meters.
MLA Bansal,in his address, assured the society members that the matter will be again taken up with the govt and in the Assembly because the orders are illegal and execution of conveyance deed for the second time is not legally required. He also said that the government orders for the installation of single power meters at housing societies are improper and without authority as these violate the Electricity Act.
He said he will take up the matter with the departments concerned as well as at the appropriate forum to resolve the same.
He added that the over-bridge was wrongly designed, which created a lot of problems for the residents of Sectors 20 and 21 and also for heavy vehicles entering and exiting Industrial Area. He assured that he will take up the matter with the HUDA and NHAI as HUDA is yet to release the necessary amount for making appropriate changes.
