Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner P C Meena has directed the district town planner (Enforcement) DTP(E) to remove all upcoming constructions in illegal colonies. For the first time in the history of Gurgaon, the district administration has given list of khewat and Kila numbers, alongwith the measurement of the area, where such illegal dwellings were coming up. On Friday, illegal constructions were demolished by the team of DTP(E) in Garhi Harsaru and Gopalpur villages. Gurgaon Naib Tehsildar Vijay Yadav was appointed as the duty magistrate for maintenance of law and order in the area. The largest area where illegal colonies were being developed fall in revenue estates of Garhi Harsaru and Gopalpur villages because these were located in close proximity to Gurgaon city and developers got considerably good rates. Meena said that no illegal construction will be allowed in the district and various teams have been constituted to keep a check on such activities. He added that illegal habitations so developed will lead to haphazard development of the area, which will later on pose a problem for the people and the administration. The inhabitants of such colonies will not have access to basic amenities like drinking water, sewerage system, proper road network, schools and parks and they will resort to agitations to get these amenities, said Meena. He appealed to the people not to be swayed by the hollow promises of developers. Instead, they should check with the district authorities whether that the colony was authorised.
