Integrated cargo complex operationalised at airport

An integrated cargo complex with total area of 2,400 square metre and five sheds was operationalised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport on Friday.

A total of cargo sheds are constructed through galvalume pre-painted self-supported roofing having total covered area 1,976 sqm.

The cargo complex is equipped with all the latest equipment, viz. cold room, reefer van, fork lifts, scissors lift, pallets, user-friendly weighing scale, trolleys for smooth and seamless functioning.

The airport is also equipped with high-security equipment like CCTV, DFMD, ETD and X-ray machines.

This cargo complex will handle domestic cargo only. Handling of international cargo will begin after getting clearance from the Customs.

The Chandigarh International Airport is the only airport in northern India after Delhi with 2,500 MT cargo facility. The tentative overall cost of project is Rs 12.45 crore.
