Interim bail for Gurdas Badal aide

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has come to the rescue of Jagdeep Singh alias Kala, personal assistant of Gurdas Singh Badal — younger brother of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and father of former Punjab finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal.

After the lower Court dismissed the anticipatory bail of Jagdeep,Justice SS Saron of the High Court has stayed Jagdeep’s arrest till July 14.

Jagdeep Singh, had accused the Punjab government of putting pressure on him to contest SGPC elections for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and deserting Gurdas Singh Badal. Appearing on the petitioner’s behalf, senior advocate RS Cheema, assisted by Advocate Karambir Singh Nalwa, contended that when Jagdeep refused to side with the ruling government,a patently false case was registered against him by the Punjab Police. The petitioner had contended that even after two months, the lower court of Muktsar had not decided his anticipatory bail application.

Justice SS Saron had directed the lower Court to decide the anticipatory bail on merits. The lower Court, two weeks back had dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Jagdeep. Aggrieved,he had moved the High court.
