Living under the shadows of his in-form opening partner Manan Vohra,Jaskaran Singh’s contribution with the bat had gone un-noticed as Manan was blazing his way as the top performer for the team.
However,on Friday,Jaskaran had other plans as he struck a brilliant double century (211) against Ropar to put Chandigarh firmly on top,and also stamped his authority as a premier batsman for the city during the Under-19 Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy played at the Sector 16 Cricket stadium.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss,Chandigarh’s opening pair of Manan and Jaskaran gave a good start to the team by putting 64 runs for the opening wicket.
After Manan got out for 25,Naveen Dhiman took the crease and added 111 runs with Jaskaran for the second wicket before Dhiman was stumped by Piyush off Sukhvinder for 32.
Then skipper Gurinder Singh and Jaskaran added precious 147-run for the third wicket and decimated the opposition bowlers. Gurpreet was sent back by Gurpreet for 67.
Meanwhile,Jaskaran completed his double century (211) off 229 balls,coupled with 21 boundaries and five towering sixes. He finally got out after he was caught by Mohit in the deep mid on region off the bowling of Avneep Saini.
His dismisaal changed the fortune of the Chandigarh team as wickets fell in heap after that. Vishal Thind,however,blasted 48 off 55 balls to help the team post 430 for 9 in 95 overs at the end of the day.
Avneep Saini,Sukhvinder and Arjun Kumar shared two wickets each.

Amaninder restricts Mohali
A Brilliant five-wicket haul by Amaninder Singh (5 for 83) helped Patiala take control on the first day of the play after skittling Mohali for a low score in the match played at Dhruve Pandove stadium in Patiala.
Mohali batted first and made 271 in 93.1 overs. Harpreet Mandher top scored with 89 runs,while Birkanwar contrubuted 63 runs.
They were given a rousing start of 104 by Harpreet Mandher and Ankit Pursharthy before Pursharthy was caught in front of the wicket by Vicky Sharma for 37 off 107 balls. Birkanwar then joined Harpreet and the duo took the total to 150.
After Harpreet’s dismissal Birkanwar kept one end up while wickets were falling at regular intervals at the other end. Vikey Sharma bagged three wickets.
In reply Patiala were 43 for 1.Vikramadit got out after scoring 18 runs.

Shiv slams century
Shiv Love’s sedate century (109 off 242 balls) helped Amritsar post a solid total during their match against Jalandhar.
Batting first,Amritsar were given a good start by Gagandeep Singh and Shiv Love who added 67 runs for the opening wicket before Gagandeep was caught by Love off the bowling of Gurkirat singh for 35.
Skipper Mohit Handa then joined Shiv and took the score to 143 when Mohit was castled by Gurkirat for 47.
Shiv Love and Amandeep Bawa raised 110 runs for the third wicket before Shivwas caught by Siddharth off Gurkirat after completing his century inclusive of 19 boundaries and one huge six.
Amandeep Bawa scored 82 off 96 balls as Amritsar posted 360 for 8 in 95 overs. Siddharth and Gurkirat picked up three wickets each.

Ludhiana batting crumbles
An insipid batting performance from Ludhiana batsmen saw the team skittle for 185 runs against Bathinda,meaning they could lose the match on the first innings’ basis if Bathinda batsmen get going on Saturday.
After winning the toss,Ludhiana elected to bat first which proved wrong as they lost three wickets with just 30 runs on the board. Then a 50-run partnership between Abhinav Bhatia (28) and Vikash Chadha (28) helped the team recover from a shaky start.
Gurinder Hara and Abhishek Talwar put on 41 runs for the sixth wicket while Abhishek and Jashan Sidhu contributed 42 for the seventh wicket.
Apart from this there wasn’t any noteworthy contribution as Ludhiana’s innings folded for 185 in 66.5 overs. Pawan took four wickets.
In reply,Bathinda were 62 for 2 in 26 overs. Dhruv (19) and Sangram (20) were batting at close of the play.
