Dhian Singh Mand, Baljit Singh Daduwal and Amreek Singh Ajnala were appointed by the said Sarbatk Khalsa on November 10, 2015. The appointments were not recognised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC), which manages the gurdwars across the country and traditionally endowed with the power to appoint the Jathedars.

The Punjab government also arrested them and sent them behind bars under various cases, including that of sedition, within a week after Sarbat Khasla was held. Mand was also connected with Pakistan-based Sikh militants by Amritsar Police.

Upon their release on bail in March, the trio began their visit to the five Takhts. Takht Hazur Sahib Jathedar Kulwant Singh honoured the trio with a robe of honour on Wednesday, while Charanjit Singh, a member of the Takht Patna Sahib Board, honoured them at the Takht Patna Sahib on Saturday. SGPC chief President Avtar Singh Makkar is president of the Patna Sahib Board.

“The Jathedars will visit the Akal Takht on May 10, Takht Kesgarh Sahib on May 13 and Takht Damdma Sahib on May 15. We started our tour from Hazur Sahib on Wednesday. All the Sikh Sangats out of Punjab have honoured the Jathedars,” said Gurdeep Singh, leader of Unitted Akali Dal who is them.
