Kapil Dev’s return to the place where he took his lessons did not turn out to be what he had wished for. His team,Aaj Tak XI,suffered a four-wicket loss at the hands of Chandigarh Invitation XI in a match organised by LIC Cricket Club at the Sector 16 Cricket stadium on Sunday.

Kapil Dev spun the coin during toss and Aaj Tak XI occupied the crease to bat first. They suffered an early jolt when their opener Vikrant was out without scoring on the second ball of the first over bowled by Narinder Kwatra.

After that C Goti (36) and Sanjeev (48) steadied the innings. Later on,some lusty hits by Arvind (19) and Dawinker (20) helped the team put on board a competitive score of 173 for 9 in 25 overs.

Raman claimed two wickets for 15 runs,while Sunil Sharma scalped 2 for 20. Narinder bowled a miserly spell by giving away just 13 runs in five overs and picked up one wicket in the process.

Chasing the daunting target,Chandigarh Invitation XI opener Narinder Kwatra gave a solid start to the team as he smashed 68 runs in just 64 balls. He was ably supported by Anurag Chopra (38).

Sunil Sharma,despite sustaining an injury,led his team to victory when he played a cameo of 28 off 16 balls. The team made 174 for 4 in 24.4 overs.

Aaj Tak XI honoured DP Azad by presenting him a memento.
