For violating traffic rules 269 times, a fine of Rs 53,800 has been imposed on a man in Chandigarh. The violator has also been awarded with 15 days’ community service at any traffic signal in the city.
To address the rise of habitual traffic offenders, the traffic police took up the matter with the district court and the Registration and Licensing Authority, Chandigarh.
On Monday 17, 2025, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Chandigarh, took strict action against the offender, who was found guilty of 253 dangerous driving/red light jumping, 14 road markings, and two not wearing a helmet violations.
Taking serious note of the violation committed by the violator, the CJM Court impounded the vehicle till the violator appears before the court and moves an application for the release of the vehicle.
A fine of Rs 53,800 was also slapped for a total number of 269 violations. Furthermore, the violator has also been awarded 15 days community service at any traffic signal to ensure traffic rules are followed by the public.
Earlier in this month, the CJM Court of Chandigarh revoked the driving licence of a habitual traffic rules offender and fined him Rs 43,400 after he was found guilty of 222 violations: 168 instances of speeding and 44 red light jumping. Furthermore, the court mandated that he complete 15 days of community service at a traffic signal, where he must ensure that the public adheres to traffic rules. The
CJM Court impounded his vehicle too.
