Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is in no mood to forgive his nephew Manpreet Singh Badal, now the president of the Peoples Party of Punjab, for deserting the Shiromani Akali Dal at the behest of Opposition parties. However,he went on to add that Manpreets leaving the party has failed to impact the SAD.
At a rally on Wednesday, the chief minister said: He (Manpreet) has committed political suicide by leaving his parent party and he did all this at the behest of the Congress.
Badal was in Manuke to attend the Parkash Divas of Baba Narian Singh Ji of Nanaksar sect.
He added,Manpreet has fallen prey to the cheap tactics of the Congress, which has always tried to weaken the SAD by promoting its disgruntled elements. However, despite all such efforts,SAD has always emerged stronger for we are like an ocean where it makes hardly any difference if a leader or two leaves the party.
On his parties relations with the BJP,its coalition partner, the CM said: We have very strong ties with the BJP and both the parties will contest the coming Assembly elections together.
Slamming the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre,Badal said that despite of record production of foodgrain, the condition of farmers is pitiable due to the excessively centralised agriculture policy.
He added that the farmer has no say in the fixing the prices of agricultural produce and to increase their miseries, the Centre is regularly increasing input costs of agriculture. The Union government never deemed it fit to consult the state governments over this issue, said Badal.
