I miss Dom Moraes, for he was a great friend, muses Jatin Das. The renowned painter intends to return to Sweden after 23 years with the exhibition of his sketches made during his last trip to the country with his poet friend.
Created 23-years-ago,the sketches pay tribute to the time Das spent with Dom Moraes, late Goan poet, writer and columnist, while travelling through Sweden in 1988. Dom and I travelled by road, train and air all over Sweden, and while he published his book,Serendip,in 1999,I made a hundred drawings, he said, looking visibly excited about the exhibition. Called A Summer in Sweden: the Journey of a Poet and a Painter, the collection is a tribute to their trip.
Of the 100 sketches, many hold the faces of prominent Swedish artists like Peter Dahl and Olle Bonner, authors like Hans Anderson, among other filmmakers, musicians, and poets.
Its uncanny that I am going to the country after 23 years during summer once again, he said. The solo exhibition comprising the sketches, will take place at Galleri Astley in Uttersberg,Sweden, from July 17 to August 21,this year.
