It has been revealed that no police verification was conducted by the police of “killer” servant Akhilesh. Even his address was not known to the victim’s family. After much investigation, police were finally able to ascertain that he belonged to Gaya district in Bihar.

Though Akhilesh had been working with the family for more than two years, the family did not have any photos of Akhilesh to provide to the police which is turning out to be a major handicap in locating him.

On Saturday night,Akhilesh allegedly killed Shanti Devi, mother of Praveen Kumar, and then injured the victim’s daughter-in-law,Isha,and grand-daughters,Garima and Pratibha. Pieces of bangles were recovered from the crime spot indicating struggle.

A relative of Akhilesh, who has been employed at Isha’s parental home for the last 15 years, had recommended him to the family. Akhilesh’s elder brother works in Sirsa district of Haryana as a sweet and his younger brother is studying in Bihar.

Praveen Kumar, the owner of the house, told the police that everything was running fine with the servant and they did not imagine that such an incident could take place. At the time of incident,Kumar was out with his friends in Sector 20. His father Ram Kishan, who has been lodged in Punjab jail for the last nine months, came to Panchkula for the funeral of Shanti Devi on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the police has maintained that they were not able to trace the servant so far.

Superintendent of Police Panchkula,Maneesh Chaudhry said,“We have dispatched six teams at various places to nab him. So far we have been unable to identify a motive, which will only become clear once he is arrested.” The Station House Officer of Sector 5 police station said that they have some clues but cannot divulge them at this stage.

Neighbours said that the servant was asking for higher wages from the family and had started washing cars of other people to earn more money.

The police have so far recovered scissors, which was allegedly used to kill Shanti Devi and attack Isha,Garima and Pratibha, and blood stained clothes of Akhilesh. A cricket bat missing from his room was also recovered close to the house. A police official said that Akhilesh’s room reflected that he was being looked after very well by the owners.

Earlier also a double murder took place in Panchkula which was committed by domestic help in 2009 in Sector 25. The police came to know about it when the bodies started degenerating.

Provide details of servants

The District Magistrate,Ashima Brar, imposed Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) on August 12 in the district and directed the residents to submit information regarding their tenants, lessee and servants in their respective police stations within 10 days in a bid to check crimes against property and person.
