Even after four days, the hunt is on to trace the Kharar engineering student, who had reportedly drowned in the Sutlej river near Ropar on Thursday evening. A local,21-year-old Inderpal Singh Raja, who was a student of a private engineering college in Kharar, had gone with his seven local friends and a cousin to his fields at Surtapur village near Ropar. On their way back in two cars, the young boys had halted on the banks of Sutlej to take a swim.

Unfortunately,at the time, water was being released from the catchment areas, said Raja’s friends. Besides Raja, three other boys also got trapped, but they managed to survive. Raja, however, was swept away. After failing to find their only son, even though they hired the services of six divers, the local family has now started the hunt at other faraway places.
