Notices to Haryana officials for misuse of govt machinery

The Haryana government clearly seems to be on a backfoot as far as use of official machinery for serving the party is concerned. The credit for this could be taken by the opposition Indian National Lok Dal,which has been showering the Election Commission with one complaint or the other from the day Lok Sabha elections were announced.

Acting on a complaint to the Election Commission earlier by the opposition Indian National Lok Dal,the Public Relations Department of the Haryana government today issued a letter to two media advisors to the Chief Minister and four media coordinators of the state not to use government vehicles and other facilities in a way that may amount to violation of the model code of conduct in the state in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha poll.

Earlier,the INLD had complained to the EC that the media advisors and the coordinators were issuing press notes and using official vehicles for the purpose of government propaganda despite the model code of conduct.

The media advisors and coordinators are Sunderpal Singh,media advisor to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda; Shiv Bhatia,media advisor to the CM,Haryana Bhawan; Dilip Chawla Bittu,media advisor from Ambala; Ashok Buwaniwala,media coordinator,Gurgaon; Sanjay Arora,media coordinator,Hisar,and Jai Pal Singh,media coordinator,Karnal.

The INLD had even complained to the Election Commission about painting of the national flag on the BPL houses in the state.

The EC is yet to take any decision in this regard,said sources.

Terming it a victory of democracy,an INLD leader said the Election Commission would not have taken notice had their party not complained to it. Our complaints have been vindicated, he said.
