On a Day Like Today No One Complains

If I told you all of that, then there’d be no surprises,so I can’t give all that away. I will say, however, that I will be performing all the songs you have heard on the radios.

It’s time to be Reckless again. Canadian rockstar Bryan Adams returns for his fourth India tour and as he would say,“You want it,you got it”

At your Delhi performance, should we expect songs from the ‘80s and ‘90s? Or do you plan to surprise us?

If I told you all of that, then there’d be no surprises,so I can’t give all that away. I will say, however, that I will be performing all the songs you have heard on the radios.

You have been performing for 30 years. What’s the secret to this long-term survival in a cut-throat market?

I don’t think it is cut-throat. I think it is difficult in all walks of life to have long-term success, and so much of it depends on the people around you. I’ve been lucky to have great musicians and producers to work with over the years. They have helped me craft my songs. Basically, you can’t do it on your own,you need a team.

You are 51. Has that changed your skills or perspective in song-writing?

It’s only ever been about fun. I’ve always said that as soon as it becomes work,I’m going to do something different.

This is your fourth trip to India. What do you have to say about the audience in here?

I’m delighted to be visiting places I’ve never been to before. I’ve been to Bangalore,New Delhi and Mumbai earlier. This time,I’ll be performing in these cities as well as in Pune,Hyderabad and Udaipur. From there,it will be to Bangladesh and Nepal. The audience has always been wonderful to me and I am hoping for an equally memorable experience this time around as well.

You did not come to India at the peak of your career. Are your repeated India concerts part of an effort to woo a new generation of fans that does not know Bryan Adams very well?

I believe that touring is a key element in a musician’s life,it shows him what songs work, gives him a direction to move forward in,and also re-acquaints people with the music, not to mention I love to sing.

Your new album,Bare Bones ,has songs culled from your previous albums. What is different here? Also, will the India concert come under the acoustic shows?

I will be doing a special acoustic show in Bangladesh, which is really exciting. I will be performing all the songs from the album. It differs from all of my other albums in that it is completely acoustic, just me and my guitar with a little piano thrown in there. I chose all the songs for the album by going on my twitter page and talking to fans.

Since this is an acoustic album, did you have to spend some time at home wood shedding?

Oh,I’m always working on those guitar skills, that never ends.

What are your upcoming projects?

I’ve got music coming out in three films this year, some of it being recorded by other artists. As far as a studio album is concerned,I think the next thing I will do is a Bare Bones 2,but we’ll see.
