One held for swindling youths with fake job letters for GMCH-32

Though no concrete evidence was found as yet but in the wake of the statements recorded by the duped persons,the police have also not ruled out the involvement of some GMCH-32 insiders in the scam. “We are probing the role of hospital staffers,if any. In case we find any evidence establishing their involvement,we will act accordingly,” said the IO.

One of the duped persons Sukhpreet Singh of Gurdaspur reported to the police that he along with 16 other persons were duped by Kumar on the pretext of obtaining GMCH-32 jobs.

“He met us at City Park in Sector 68,Mohali,and promised us jobs of MSW for which he demanded Rs 50,000 from each candidate,” alleged Sukhpreet,while divulging that as per the agreement,the first installment of Rs 20,000 each was paid and the remaining Rs 30,000 was to be paid after receiving the first salary.

Sukhpreet revealed that Kumar had promised them Rs 10,000 monthly salary and issued them job letters,which on checking out with the GMCH-32 authorities turned out to be fake.

Kumar was remanded in a one-day police custody by a local court this evening to allow police to ascertain his links and modus operandi,the IO added.

Denying prima facie any involvement of their staffers in the scam,GMCH-32 Medical Superintendent Dr Vipin Kaushal said,“Instead we handed over the conman to the police and except being visiting the hospital as a patient,he has no other connection or link whatsoever with us”. He assured to probe the matter if need be.
