The open auctions for commercial, nursing home and clinic sites in the Panchkula urban estate, organised by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA),on Friday afternoon turned out to be unsuccessful as very few bidders participated. The auctions were called off by HUDA Chief Administrator DPS Nagal after just three out of 36 commercial sites had been sold. Bidders turned hostile as the auction for the fourth site was withdrawn by the chief administrator when the bidding ended at Rs 88,30,000 after about 12 bids. The reserve price for this booth without basement site in Sector 17 was fixed at Rs 86,68,000.
After this, the auctions for all the other sites too were withdrawn by the chief administrator. According to the terms and conditions for auctions listed by HUDA,they can be withdrawn at any stage by the administrator without stating any reason.
All three sites were built-up booths without basement in Sector 15,Panchkula. Their reserve price had been fixed at Rs 90 lakh by HUDA. Site number 88 was sold at Rs 1,24,00,000,site number 95 was sold at Rs 1,19,25,000 and site number 96 was taken away at Rs 1,20,31,000.

A showroom-cum-office (SCO) site, having three storeys with a basement,in Sector 11 was not sold even during the last auctions in March. The reserve price for this site was fixed at Rs 13,07,00,000.
According to HUDA Estate Officer Ashwani Sharma,Only 27 bidders had registered for the auction of commercial sites while there were just two bidders for the nursing home and clinic sites.
Sharma said that the response was low as another auction had already been held just about four months ago. The market has also been facing a slowdown since the past few months,he added.
For the last auction,on March 21 this year,245 bidders had participated. Out of the 73 sites put up for auctioning,28 had been sold.
The overall highest bid was made for a showroom-cum-flat (SCF) in Sector 16. The site had a reserve price of Rs 3 crore and was sold at Rs 5,11,07,000.
