PNB’s faulty ATM leaves customers hassled

The users of the automatic teller machine at Punjab National Bank branch located on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway-21 in Dera Bassi are bearing the brunt of the bank’s callous attitude to get the faulty ATM machine repaired.

The users of the automatic teller machine (ATM) at Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch located on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway-21 in Dera Bassi are bearing the brunt of the bank’s callous attitude to get the faulty ATM machine repaired. The machine, without releasing money, has been debiting money from customers’ bank accounts. The problem, which is continuing for the past several days,is yet to be addressed by the bank.

One such ‘victim’,Manoj Kumar of Dera Bassi, could not withdraw money as the ATM machine went blank after he entered a sum of Rs 2,000 he wanted to withdraw. However, after a while when he checked the transaction,he was shocked to know that Rs 2,000 was shown as debited from his account. On this,he approached the bank authorities, who asked him to contact the customer care service, who in turn told him that the problem had occurred due to some technical fault and money will be credited to his account within 15 days.

Saurav, who is a student, told that he could not pay his college fee in time due to the faulty ATM. PNB branch manager R K Shankar said the problem was due to fault in the BSNL network. “The problem has already been reported to BSNL and will be rectified soon,” he said, while adding that the amounts wrongly debited from the accounts will soon be credited into the accounts of the customers concerned.
