Possession of land using ‘fake’ documents: Punjab and Haryana HC issues summons to ADC, SDM

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to several administrative officials for allegedly attempting to take the possession of a piece of land in Jhanjheri village using fake possession warrants. This action comes following a petition filed by a farmer, Ram Singh, of village Jhanjheri.

The court has summoned the Additional Deputy Commissioner, SDM Kharar, DDPO, Tehsildar Kharar, BDPO Kharar, SHO Amit Sharma, Gram Panchayat, and Raghu Mudgal to appear in person on July 4.

Ram Singh claimed: “Despite the High Court ruling that specific khasra numbers belong to the gram panchayat and the panchayat passing a resolution accordingly, officials attempted to seize land using warrants that listed different khasra numbers”.

He further alleged,“under the guise of these fake warrants, officials tried to grab our ancestral land at night, illegally suspended the village sarpanch and four panches, and even filed FIRs against 27 innocent farmers.”
