PPP to seek suggestions from masses for manifesto

People’s Party of Punjab will create its election manifesto based on the suggestions given by the people of the state,former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal said.

The masses can call or send mails to soon to be advertised telephone numbers and e-mail ids,Manpreet,also the PPP president added.

“No political party has ever involved the general public in deciding a manifesto. We are the party of people,we will go to them and involve them in all the activities,” he said,adding that if voted to power,he will set up five commissions of inquiry within the first 100 days.

“These commissions will be headed by retired judges and will probe sand and coal mining,transport,drugs and cable scams. A conservative estimate shows that Punjab loses nearly Rs 2,000 crore each year because of these scams,” Manpreet said. The commissions will submit their report in six months and would also suggest the quantum of punishment for the guilty and ways to improve the said sectors.

The rebel Akali leader also sounded upbeat about his November 6 rally at Dhudhike near Moga. He said some of the details of the common minimum programme (of the Sanjha Morcha) may be announced at the rally. Queried about the national leaders expected to attend this rally,Manpreet said,“There could be many.”

Senior Left leaders Prakash Karat and A B Bardhan,along with former Governor of Tamil Nadu Surjit Singh Barnala will be attending the rally.
