Ratia declared overall winner

Taking part in the Granny's Bowl Golf Tournament at the Chandigarh Golf Club on Saturday,S Ratia was declared the overall winner of the tournament with a score of gross 95.

Taking part in the Granny’s Bowl Golf Tournament at the Chandigarh Golf Club on Saturday,S Ratia was declared the overall winner of the tournament with a score of gross 95. Meanwhile,Dr. Pramila Chari took the honours in the net category with a score of 77. On the other hand,Dalbir Sahi won the best gross in the above 70 years category with a score of 49, while Harinder Sandhu finished runners-up in the same category with a score of 39. The brain child of Late Darshi Narang,a respected member of the Ladies Section of Chandigarh Golf Club,this tournament was first played in the year 1997. It was conceived especially for grandmothers. After the demise of Darshi Narang her daughter Getika Kalha dedicated the tournament in the memory of her mother. Fourteen enthusiastic grannies were seen competing for the title. A special 9-hole round was conducted for grandmothers above 70 years of age.

Cricket trials today
Trials for the selection of Chandigarh team for the 3rd All India National League Cricket tournament,to be held at Jaipur (Rajasthan) from November 13 to 18,organised by Rajasthan Cricket Federation,will be held on October 25 at 3 pm at Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 40. Aman Sidhu will be the coach of the team.

Robin to attend coaches’ conference in Spain
Adding another feather to his cap,Robin Kumar,director coaching,Chandigarh Club Tennis Academy,will join the 16th World Wide Coaches Tennis Conference to be held at Valencia (Spain) from October 29 till November 3. “Currently Europe is the Mecca of tennis as most of the Grand Slam talent is surfacing from that part of the world. Spain is yet more special because Rafael Nadal,one of the biggest names in tennis today,is from Spain. Further this conference will provide me with an opportunity to meet people about whom I have heard from others. It will be a great exposure and learning experience,” said Robin.

GN College,Narangwal win kabaddi title
In an exciting encounter,GN College,Narangwal recorded a 39-28 win over GNN College,Doraha,in the finals to win the Panjab University Inter-college Kabaddi (National style) B-Division (men) tournament played at PU Gymnasium Hall,on mats,on Saturday. Earlier,GNN College,Doraha,had defeated Khalsa College,Garhdiwala 54-24 to enter the final,while GN College,Narangwal,thrashed Malwa College,Samrala,56-16 to cruise into the final.

Chandigarh dodgeball teams reach last four
Continuing with their good work,the Chandigarh players once again shone on the third day of 55th National School Games after reaching semi-finals in the boys’ and girls’ Under-19 category in dodgeball. The Chandigarh boys outplayed Kharkhand 2-0,while the eves recorded an easy 2-0 win over Orissa in their quarter-final matches. The Haryana boys lost to Delhi 2-1,while the girls went down 2-0 to IPSC in the Under-19 dodgeball. The Punjab team prevailed over Maharashtra 3-2,while the girls recorded twin wins in the Under-14 softball. They first thrashed Chhattisgarh 28-9 and then rallied to beat Maharashtra 11-5.
