A valiant batting effort of 82 runs by Gurinder Saini went in vain as his team Yes Bank XI lost to ICICI Bank XI by 30 runs in a league match of the VIIth Girish Nayyar Memorial League Cricket Tournament,being organised by the Chandigarh Sports Club,here at the Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium,Sector-3 Panchkula,today.

Batting first after winning the toss,ICICI Bank XI made 163 for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. After losing four wickets inside five overs,ICICI Bank XI was in trouble. It was pair of Gurmeet Dhindsa (61 no) and Baljeet Kalsi (37) who got the rescue act together and put together a partnership of 130 runs in 86 balls to enable the team to get to a respectable total. Gurinder Saini bowled superbly taking three wickets. Yes Bank bowlers were wayward in their approach and gave away as many as 45 extras.

In reply,Gurinder Saini was in his usual form picking-up 22 runs in the first two overs.

He scored freely while other batsmen struggled and found the opposition bowlers tough to face. In the 17 th over,trying to take a cheeky single Saini got run out on 82 made in 61 balls. After his dismissal,it was impossible for Yes Bank to strike back. They could just muster 133 runs for the loss of six wickets.

In another match of the day,Godrej & Boyce XI scored a comprehensive victory over Adwintage Communications Ltd. XI by five wickets.
