The Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) is launching a salad bar at Hotel ShivalikView on Friday.
Under the salad bar concept,a customer would be served vegetable soup, five vegetable salads and two non-vegetarian salads for Rs 150,inclusive of all taxes.
The salad would be cooked preserving the nutritive values of its ingredients and will be low on calories.
The hotel will also provide an additional offer to those with a huge appetite. For an added payment of Rs 50 (Rs 200 in all),a pasta dish will be served. The pasta dish in the regular menu costs Rs 100 and a conventional lunch at the hotel would cost about Rs 325.
Disclosing this on Thursday,Anurag Walia, deputy general manager of Hotel ShivalikView, said they had conducted a silent survey which revealed that nearly 2,500 to 3,000 persons took their lunch out at Sector 17 everyday.
This included those belonging to the lower strata of society as
well as the middle and upper class sections, who possess a spending capacity ranging between Rs 50 and Rs 300.
Roughly 30 to 35 per cent of the surveyed people could spend Rs 150 to Rs 200 on a lunch.
With a view to attract the health conscious senior executives and upper class section who prefer low-calorie food instead of the regular dining table,we have introduced the salad bar, Walia said.
He added that the dhaba culture was losing steam and people were increasingly becoming health conscious and didnt mind spending on food high in quality but low on calories.
