A team of doctors headed by Dr Sudhir from the PGI,Rohtak, after examining the Samalheri residents admitted at the Ambala Civil hospital, private clinic Babyal and PHC Samalheri, were of the view that villagers were probably suffering from dropsy. Dr Sudhir, with other five team members, examined every patient and found symptoms of dropsy. Dr Sudhir, however, said the final confirmation of the disease can be done only after receiving all test reports. The villagers were quite agitated over the continued negligence of the administration and Health department, which, they said, woke up only after the disease had claimed two lives. Randhir Singh, father of Priyanka and Deeksha, who died of the disease, regretted that the villagers were bundled away in government vehicles to admit them in civil hospital just to complete formalities. He said they wanted to remain admitted in private clinic at Babyal, where the doctor was giving better treatment.
