Shaky start for local lad Sagar

It was a shaky start in the tournament for local lad Sagar Bains as he scored a 1-4,4-1,4-0 win over Yugul Bansal of Uttar Pradesh to rally into the second round in the boys’ singles category in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being played at CLTA courts on Monday. Bains lost the first set with a 1-4 margin before regaining his touch and claimed the second set with a 4-1 margin,Bains claimed the third and final set with a 4-0 margin to storm into the second round. It was also easy going for local lad Sameer Vats as he ended the challenge of Tanay Bagree of Assam with a 4-1,4-0 win. Vats claimed the first set with a 4-1 margin before claiming the second set with a 4-0 margin. Another Chandigarh lad Rishab Sharda also booked his place into the second round as he ended the challenge of Delhi’s Siddhant Jain with a 4-0,4-1 win. Sharda claimed the first set with a 4-0 margin before claiming the second set with a 4-1 margin. Another Chandigarh lad Paramveer Singh Bajwa also rallied into the second round with a 4-0,4-0 win over Shivam Vij. Bajwa claimed the first set with a 4-0 margin before claiming the second set with a 4-0 margin.

In the boys’ U-16 category,local lad Pranav Suri booked his berth in the second round with a 6-1,7-5 win over Abhijeet Singh of Chandigarh. Suri claimed the first set with a 6-1 margin before claiming the second set with a narrow margin of 7-5. In another match in the same category,Ranjeet Singh of Chandigarh scored a 6-2,6-2 win over Nishat Eqbal. Singh claimed the first set with a 6-2 margin before claiming the second set with an identical margin. In another match in the same category,Jagtar Singh ended the challenge of Anupam Lamba of Delhi with a 6-1,6-2 win. Singh claimed the first set with a 6-1 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-2 margin. Another Chandigarh lad Sachin Kumar also stormed into the second round with a 6-3,6-4 win over Rahul Seth. Kumar claimed the first set with a 6-3 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-4 margin. It was easy going for Nirbhav Singh Soin of Gujarat as he ended the challenge of Jotpal Singh with a 6-0,6-1 win. Soin claimed the first set with a 6-0 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-1 margin.
