Shimla Tree Authority Committee in dock

Shimla Tree Authority Committee is in the dock,with the Himachal High Court on Friday asking it to clearly state the process and guidelines followed by it before granting permissions to cut trees in Shimla town. The court has asked the committee to file affidavit within one month and give information over three questions raised by the court. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Rajeev Sharma today directed for including the Tree Authority Committee of Shimla Municipal Corporation as respondent in the case where a green deodar tree saved by alert citizens of Aira Holme locality of Shimla was cut in January.
