Slapgate at Kaimbwala school: DEO says ‘no time’ to read report

The inquiry panel probing the slapping incident at Government Senior Secondary School,Kaimbwala,submitted its report on Tuesday.

The UT Education department,which had marked an inquiry in the case,is yet to initiate any action.

While District Education Officer Chanchal Singh claimed he has not read the report till now and action will be taken only after the report is thoroughly studied.

According to sources,the report submitted by inquiry officer Deputy District Education Officer Ram Kumar mentions that the teacher slapped the student first.

Both the student and teacher had alleged that they were slapped first and they only retaliated.

Chanchal Singh said as he was busy in the admission and recruitment process,he could not take time out to read the report. “Action depending upon the report would be taken soon,” was his reply.

According to the report,the incident occurred around 1 pm when social studies teacher Chaman Lal asked students to return to their class when they had gone out as there was no electricity.

This resulted in an argument between student Ram Chander and the teacher,who allegedly slapped the boy. The student then slapped him in return and a scuffle followed.

When the situation went out of control,school principal Harmeet Kaur intervened and called up the District Education Officer informing him about the incident.
