Surinder Singh Bedi passes away

Kanwar Surinder Singh Bedi,a retired IAS officer,passed away in his sleep at his home in Mohali today.

Kanwar Surinder Singh Bedi,a retired IAS officer,passed away in his sleep at his home in Mohali today. He was 95 and is survived by three sons.

A distinguished bureaucrat,Bedi was decorated with Padma Shri in 1965 and Padma Bhushan in 1971 .

Kanwar Surinder Singh,a direct descendant of Guru Nanak (15th generation),was an alumnus of Aitchison (Chief’s) College and Government College,Lahore. He was awarded the ‘Rivaz’ Gold Medal for his all-round performance at Aitchison in 1936.

An ardent lover of Urdu poetry,Surinder Singh excelled in sports and was the National Trap Shooting Champion in 1951-52.

The bhog and antim ardas will be held in the Sector 34 gurudwara on Monday at 12 noon.
