The long wait has finally come to an end as the Chandigarh Housing Board has decided to float tenders for its Sector-63 housing scheme on June 1. This is for the first time that the board has opted for e-tendering and plans to continue with it for all its future projects. The final draw for floors was held on April. Those who have applied for houses can expect construction to start once the tenders are floated. The scheme has been finalised after a lot of hiccups. The plan was earlier rejected due to inadequate parking space in the layout plan, which was modified. As per the requirement, the Board was asked to provide space for at least one car per apartment. At the time of launching the scheme, the Board had assured all applicants of two and three-bedroom flats of a basement car parking, however,it failed to keep the promise in the layout plan. The final draw of lots for the scheme was completed in November 2008. The dwelling units are divided into four categories - Category A (304 three-bedroom flats),Category B (836 two-bedroom flats),Category C (532 one-bedroom flats) and Category D (304 one-room flats for the economically weaker section).
