While some of the city government schools are yet to receive the summer uniform from their respective suppliers and some are yet to find a supplier itself, the UT education department has planned to direct schools to float tenders to invite bids for winter uniform by the first week of August.
DPI(s) Kamlesh Kumar informed that majority of the schools have already distributed the summer uniform, while the ones which are yet to get their sets, have been asked to buy the uniform from the markets directly such that by July end, every student gets to wear his/her uniform.
Unlike last year, when the government schools had floated the tenders for the winter uniform in the month of October, and the students were made to wait till February, for the uniform, the students will be seen wearing their winter uniform from November 1 onwards, as per the department’s plan.
“All the government schools will get their summer uniform by July. There are very few schools left which have not got a supplier even after floating tenders for even four times, which is why, we have asked them to fix the rates as per their convenience or can also buy it from the market itself. While as per the plans, the schools will be directed to float the tenders for the winter uniform such that the schools have enough stock before the season actually begins.”
At present, approximately 30-35 schools have managed to distribute the uniform while 30 schools are under the tender-floating process and around 40 schools are still under the tender-floating process as they have not got a bidder yet to procure the summer uniform.
